Turbulent markets need clear philosophies

“It isn’t us that has a problem with the strong Swiss Franc, but the Europeans!” explained Fred Gaegauf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fritz Studer AG. He also explained how his company must be constantly innovative and flexible, in order to be and remain the world market leader in the grinding machine industry, despite the turbulent markets. Fritz Studer AG also succeeds in this with an active corporate philosophy which it calls PuLs – precision and passion. It is based on a rigorous lean management system which covers all areas of the company, and is associated with high investments in new technologies and extensive staff training.

The region’s largest trainer of apprentices

Fritz Studer AG employs 77 apprentices, who make up 10 percent of the overall workforce. This makes the cylindrical grinding expert the region’s most important trainer. A commitment which also impresses the Minister for Economic Affairs, who is working to get the World Skills, the international professional competition, to Switzerland. Schneider-Ammann’s speech made it clear: supporting the manufacturing industry and vocational training is a matter that is very close to his heart, and one which he has been able to bring closer to his party colleagues with the visit to Fritz Studer AG.
