With that motto in mind, WALTER worked with the FDPW, the Industry Association of Precision Tool Machinists, to invite a group of young master craftsmen to Tübingen. The first meeting was intended to bring the group of young master craftsmen from the next generation of tool grinders into contact with one another, across national borders.

The initial drive for this kind of meeting came from the group itself: "In Germany, master craftsman preparation courses can only be taken with the FDPW at the Jakob-Preh-Meisterschule für Schneid- & Schleiftechnik. As a result, its graduates are already like an extended family. So it was clear to us that we wanted to keep meeting regularly after training was complete," says Robert Gebhardt (WTG Tooltechnik Gebhardt GmbH), a young master craftsman who organized the first meeting. Key points of discussion at the meetings, which will take place once a year in different places, will include continuing education and exchange of experience. This will require the organization of workshops, lectures from external speakers and much more.

After the short presentation of the FDPW by Dr.-Ing. Claus Itterheim, the WALTER product manager presented the entire product portfolio as well as innovations from grinding, eroding, measuring technology and customer care. After a company tour and the professional discussions about the machines with colleagues from WALTER's Application Technology department, the meeting ended with a joint visit to the Tübinger Christmas market and dinner.
