This year, Walter Maschinenbau GmbH was the Premium Business Partner of the Tübingen city run (Erbe Run) and the name sponsor for the schoolchildren's run. WALTER also had its own running team at the starting line.
Successful participation in the Tübingen Erbe Run 2023
On 17.09.2023, a great event took place in the old town of Tübingen: the Erbe Run. A running event with various disciplines from amateur and professional sports, in which a record total of around 3,500 participants took to the starting line this year in beautiful sunshine. A huge crowd of people, especially at the schoolchildren's run and the slow main run.
This year, the race for schoolchildren born in 2008/2009 and later was called the "Walter Maschinenbau Schülerlauf". Our COO Gerhard Riester fired the starting shots for the different age groups; CEO Harri Rein then took over the award ceremonies for the young starters and presented certificates and trophies to the lucky children.
In addition to the run, we had set up a large information booth in front of the Neue Aula on Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, where we provided information about apprenticeship opportunities in our company. Some of our trainees were also on site and ran a "Wheel of Fortune" with many main and goodie prizes in line with the event, which was very popular. The queue of children who lined up there didn't want to get any shorter - a complete success! Our thundersticks also sold like hot cakes: the demand for them was so high that even at 12 noon people were still asking for more thundersticks to loudly cheer on the participants. However, these were already completely empty before the starting signal for the third schoolchildren's run. We had not expected such a rush.
And the best comes at the end: Our WALTER running team, which consisted of around 30 employees from Tübingen and Kuřim, achieved 3rd and 11th place in the company ranking at the Erbe Run 2023! A great result and a great team and individual performance that deserves even more respect given the high temperatures!
We would like to thank all helpers, the running team and last but not least the audience for the great turnout & the support on site.
